To a keen driver taking a road trip is a genuine thrill and arriving at their destination is almost anticlimactic. The trip is the best part. BMW owners are almost always the most eager of drivers, which is why they chose’The final Driving Machine’ in the first place. Attend a BMW CCA ( BMW Car Club of America ) gathering and you may overhear a lot of references to great highways on which to enjoy the BMW driving experience. Roads with a lot of’twisties’ and loops and curves are sought out, and when found they are catalogued for future fun drives. At these same BMW owners’ gatherings, you will also hear a lot of references to the top spots to take your BMW for service and those scarce repairs. You see, to own a precision machine like a Bimmer, requires that it be serviced in accordance to the detailed instructions laid down by those fastidious engineers in Munich.

Like all other fine pieces of machinery, a BMW needs the absolute best in lubricants, filters and replacement wear-parts in order to be performing at its absolute best. Yes, Virginia, BMW parts do wear, albeit slower than those on a pedestrian ride from Detroit. In the past, many BMW owners were inclined to perform routine upkeep themselves, sort of a bonding with their vehicle ( the majority of which had been given some Bavarian-sounding name ). In modern times , however , these machines became very complicated, an engineering marvel, that they often require special tools exclusively for routine service, so their owners search out competent, factory-trained mechanical technicians to take care of their’Helga’ or’Hans’ or’Gretel’ or whomever.

A name frequently heard at the aforementioned BMW gatherings is TaylorCo on Foothill Boulevard in Pomona. Within easy reach of nearly everyplace in the los angeles urban Area, Taylor Company Independent BMW Service has been providing area BMW owners with the best in precision automobile care. TaylorCo uses only the best in approved parts and they have all of the special hardware required to properly maintain your Bimmer. Taylor’s highly experienced technicians and diagnosticians have everything ( except Bavarian names ) to give any Series one, 3, five, 6, 7, Z or MINI the absolute best in attention. TaylorCo is also equipped and experienced in service and repairs for classic BMWs, too. So, if you have a 2002, a Bavaria, a 3.0CSI or even a 507, don’t hesitate to head to 340 E. Foothill Boulevard. It costs no more to use the best.

It’s true!

A digital tyre inflator should be absolutely top of every motorists shopping list for addition to their motoring toolbox. Let’s face it, I am sure that everyone who has ever had a flat tyre, has gone to look at their spare, only to find that it was flat as well, at some stage in their motoring career.

If you had a lightweight device that would fit into a tiny cubby hole, like a glove box, and was powered by your onboard cigarette lighter, you would be laughing, especially in the face of a dead tyre. Well that is exactly what a digital tyre inflator is and does. It is a potential life saver.

A good tyre inflator is a doddle to use. You can inflate your tyre to the correct pressure in minutes. It is simply a case of setting the correct psi on the gauge, and then letting it rip. You need to know the correct tyre pressure of course, but that is usually a case of digging out your repair manual which will have the information you want in it.

Failing that, just use the Internet. It is ideal for discovering facts like this. Even if you cannot find the answer, just set up the question at somewhere like Yahoo answers and someone out there is bound to know and be able to tell you.

If you have ever had to pump up tyres using a conventional pump, you will find a digital tyre inflator an absolute Godsend. There is so little effort involved on your part, you would hardly believe it. Some units are said to be a little noisy, but for a five minute job to get you out of a hole, I don’t think that you can go wrong. I have also heard that some units do vibrate quite a bit as well. If your unit does this, you might need to hold it whilst it works, but again, for a quick and easy result to a potentially disastrous problem, you cannot go wrong with this little gadget.

Fuel costs continue to go through the roof, with no end in sight. You’ve probably seen countless ads for high tech fuel savers, but most of these end up being gimmicks or rip-offs. But there is one gadget that really does save you fuel–and lots of it. What is it? Your GPS Navigation System. Saving you fuel is one of its best yet unsung benefits of your GPS. With fuel prices at record highs, before you know it your GPS investment will pay for itself in fuel savings alone. Read on for seven ways that a GPS Navigation System can improve your fuel economy (and save you time and stress).

1. A GPS is programmed to show you the fastest, shortest and most efficient route to a destination, therefore reducing miles and fuel use.

2. A GPS can make planning a trip and determining the best route much easier. Higher-end units, such as the Garmin nuvi 700 series, include a multi-destination routing feature, which will find the optimal route among several stops. Realtors, delivery professionals and others whose work involves significant amounts of driving can save a lot of time and gas money by planning their route with the help of a GPS.

3. Regardless of the gas efficiency of your car, your mileage can fall to zero miles a gallon when you are stuck in traffic. More and more top-rated GPS models are now providing users with live traffic updates, alerting them to upcoming traffic, showing traffic problems on the GPS’s map and suggesting alternative routes to bypass traffic problems. Some even provide weather updates, helping you stay ahead of inclement weather conditions.

4. For many, getting from A to B is the easy part. Finding a store, restaurant or gas station along the way is what usually gets drivers lost. How many times have you found yourself driving for miles down a dark road only to find that the Taco Bell or Exxon station promised by the highway sign is nowhere to be found? An in-car GPS Navigation Systems is loaded with thousands of points of interest (POIs), allowing you to find food, rest stops, etc. near your location, along your route or around your destination. This convenient feature prevents you from having to search in unfamiliar places and wasting precious fuel in the process.

5. The ecoRoute software available from Garmin can help you find the most fuel-efficient route to a destination. The software’s “Less Fuel” option will show the route that requires the least amount of fuel. An added bonus is ecoRoute’s ability to track your fuel usage for each trip, making it easy to log your traveled distance and fuel consumption for reimbursement purposes.

6. Driving from service station to service station in an attempt to find the best-priced gasoline–we’ve all done it. Many don’t realize that the penny or two per gallon that they saved is likely to be cancelled out by the extra gas used while shopping gas prices. The good news is that more and more companies are now connecting their GPS units to online networks, allowing them to obtain and show you current gas prices. Using online services such as MSN Direct to gather this information, high-end GPS Navigation Systems from Garmin and other manufacturers can show you the current gas prices instantly and guide you turn-by-turn to your preferred service station.

7. Lastly, the obvious: Each mile spent driving around while you’re lost means a mile of wasted gas (not to mention time and stress). Armed with an in-car GPS Navigation System, you may not know where you are but you’ll never be lost.

Car is the basic necessity for almost all the people as it helps to save a lot of precious time. Though, you might possess the best and the most well-known brand of car, but it is always safe to get your car insured. You feel relaxed if you purchase the right kind of car insurance policy. Car insurance means an agreement between the car owner and the car insurance company which says, if there is any damage or loss of car, the car insurance company will pay the said sum of cash to the car owner, only if the car owner is guiltless and is not accountable for any loss or damage occurred to the car. However, the car owner has to pay some specific monthly or annual premiums as insurance to insure his or her car against any financial losses or damages. There are several advantages if you get a car insurance policy done for your car by a reputed car insurance company. A right car insurance policy will help tremendously millions of people who live in countries that are experiencing a continuous rise in number of accidents per day. The bottom line is, you can meet all your medical expenses as your car insurance policy will cover that too. Moreover, if you are privileged enough to go unhurt and your car experiences maximum dents and losses, then you car insurance company will be liable to pay for the car repair expenses.

Road rage is something that people are still battling to this day. Road rage occurs for a variety of reasons. For example, because we are only human, we are sometimes faced with difficult issues that may be occurring in our lives and which may distract us while driving.

Have you ever driven somewhere and seen that your phone was ringing. Then, when you answer your phone, you answer it only to realize that you are about to receive some sort of bad news regarding something in your life? How does this affect your ability to focus on the roadway and on other drivers around you? In movies, we see examples of this all the time where someone is driving and they’ve just received bad news. As a result, they start speeding, weaving in and out of traffic recklessly as they try to make it home or to the hospital or to a friend or family member’s house. When the police pull them over, they beg and plead, spilling out the details of their pressing situation.

In real life, you may not be so lucky. This is why it is better to leave your cell phone alone for the duration of your trip in your car. Think about how people used to get around before cell phones were invented. Bad news could wait until they got to wherever it was they were going in which there would be a message that was left for them, etc. This is not the only cause for road rage, however. For example, we all have certain things about our driving style that we find ourselves getting annoyed at where other drivers are concerned. For instance, because you think that you are a champion when it comes to eating and driving, you may think that others around you should be able to do the same. You might get annoyed if you see someone else beside you in a car eating while driving and not paying attention to the road while they block traffic.

Whatever the cause of your road rage woes, you need to remember that the only way to drive is when you are calm. Take a few deep breaths, focus on something pleasant or turn on the radio. If all else fails, simply put your turn signal on and move over to the side of the road out of traffic so that you can spend a few minutes decompressing. If you have to, get out of your car and walk around for a minute to get some fresh air. Yes, some people really are this distressed while driving! It is much better to find some sort of way that you can calm yourself down so that you are not compelled to take out your rage on other unsuspecting drivers. Too often, I have seen people cut each other off only to get stopped at a stoplight a few feet ahead of them! The race continues until one of them exits off of the road, someone gets into an accident or a police officer happens to pull one or both of them over.

Road rage is never worth the emotional and physical damage that it can cause if you are not responsible for your actions.

My friends would say that I am car obsessed. If asked to prove the point, thy would explain about my bank balance crippling car magazine habit, about the lectures I give on engine size and fuel economy, about the writing I do and the car I drive. Actually, scratch that last bit - because I drive a Toyota IQ and even my least car savvy mates don’t consider that car to be cool. It is a shame that they think this way - because I think that the IQ is a much maligned car that actually serves its purpose brilliantly!

I suppose it is the looks that people first have a problem with - and this is something that is wholly personal when choosing a car to own. One of my mates, for example, owns a Lotus, which they saved for years to be able to buy - but I personally can’t stand the design at all! In much the same way, I have always felt a little guilty about loving Smart Cars, as doing so it much the same as a fashionista admitting to wearing crocs or Ugg boots. I reckon the small design is one of the things that first go me seriously considering the IQ - it was like the tiny Smart Car city run-around just looking a little cooler. Instead of chunky edges and a strange shape, the IQ was much smoother and much smarter - like a grownup version!

However, I would never buy a car purely on looks alone - and if I was being serious and practical on looks then I probably would have gone for a Yaris or even an Auris. The used Toyota garage was full of all of them, and all at cheap prices. The thing is, however, that I do actually live in a city, and my work isn’t easy to get to by public transport. As such, I have to drive to and from my office on a daily basis - which is a nightmare at the best of time. Having a large car would have made it much more difficult to navigate my lanes - and incredibly hard to find a coveted parking space on the on-street parking that I have outside my house. The IQ was the sensible size and shape, yet still manages to fit 4 people inside.

See, suddenly it makes more sense why I own this tenacious little car - looks and practicality! I will be honest and say that the drive (surprisingly rugged and athletic for a car the size of a hamster!) was just a bonus. My research had told me that a used Toyota IQ would be thoroughly economic, and at 65.69 MPG combined, the facts and figures were certainly convincing. I was also sold on the fact that I didn’t have to pay any road tax, thanks to startlingly low CO2 emissions! When I took it for a test drive, however, I clicked that the little engine was actually hiding some dynamism - and it was immediately clear that the acceleration was faster than my current car with a much bigger engine!

As you can see, I may not drive a typical car-addicts car - but I drive my little IQ with a whole lot of good reasons to back me up!

If there is one thing that we know about Americans it’s quite simply this, when it come to cars, we will not be told what to do, we love our cars, no matter what brand we love, we are fiercely loyal to it, but lately we’ve had the government trying to force the green thing on to us.

I listened to a scientist on the radio talking about this very things the other day, and this particular scientist had proof that all the little things that we’re doing won’t curb the earth from going through it’s natural cycle, all this has happened before, and it will happen again.

He said that if we shut down every plant that emits carbon in to the air, and never drove another car again, that we would not live long enough to feel the affect of it, but because of the politicians we will go green like it or not, because it will be very lucrative for them.

We already have politicians predicting that the United States will all be driving electric cars at some point, I hope to be dead by then, I am one of those stubborn American’s that likes car the way that they are, I like being able to have fun with my car, without being an electrical engineer.

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think that electric cars will save the world, the same as I didn’t about hybrids, I don’t think that a free American should be forced to drive any car that they don’t want to drive, and I don’t think that they should eliminate gas powered cars ever.

I love my country, and the world that we live in, but I happen to believe that we don’t need the entire world to turn in to tree hugging hippies, we need to remain free if this country is to remain to be the United States Of America, if not, then fine let’s all buy in to the idiocy of go green.

They all say that electric cars will save the automotive industry, they said the same thing about hybrids, and we seen how many Americans bought those things, yes I’ll admit a few Americans did, and I even liked that idea, just not at the expense of a traditional gas powered car.

I think that the future of the automotive industry will be a combination of all of these things, because there are people like me, who refuse to drive an electric car, or a hybrid, if is is to replace our good old gas powered cars.

I say if you want a hybrid, fine go out and buy one tomorrow, but I should not be forced to drive some turd that I can’t even stand to be seen in, like I said I can see the idea of a duel fuel hybrid, or even a car that runs on water, but I refuse to become a tree hugging hippie.

I by the same token will never be that guy that sells out his own country by saying that other countries are building better cars, I am an American, I refuse to drive a Toyota Prius, or anything of the sort, and if yo ever see me chained to a tree, do me the favor of killing me.

I hate anything that presumes to tell an American citizen what he, or she must do about a certain thing, and so I say what will save the automotive industry is a good combination of all of these things, and for the idea of auto workers being in a union to be rethought.

The UAW has been working for years to kill the industry, and they car about nothing but the union, it’s time to kick them down a notch, take some of the power and money from them, and then let’s see how cocky they are, maybe that will shut their mouths.

What I’m saying here is that it’s not only the cars that need to be redone, it’s the management, and most of all the unions, to solve the problem you either need to fix the things that are causing the problem, or get rid of them completely.

So let’s do that by first getting rid of Obama’s yes men from the industry, and working our way through the rest of it a step at a time, it’s not a quick fix, but then again it took over 100 years for the problems to start screwing things up, and it may take some time to fix it.

If they were to locate the right management for the big three, people that actually care about the product that they sell, and the employees that make the product, people who can decide not to sign the next union contract that comes through the doors, we may see them return again.

I have said for years that the union would kill the industry, and they had a lot to do with all of the crap that is going on, if you don’t believe me, all you need to do is to study up a bit, it will not take you long to understand what I’m saying, it won’t take you long to see the light on this subject.

My area of interest is classic cars, and muscle cars, but in the past a few years I have become increasingly concerned about our country.

I have been in the automotive industry in one form, or another for about 30 years, and I started on the internet to help the automotive industry with a place that they could afford to advertise their businesses.

The old reliable method of repairing these dents is to get a couple estimates from local body shops, which results in sticker-shock over the exorbitant cost of these repairs. The body shop method of repairing even small dents involves sanding the painted surface, filling the dent with body filler, sanding everything down, priming, painting and clearcoating. That’s a lot of high-priced materials and paints and it’s very time-consuming.

But paintless dent repair is an alternative to the old tried-and-true methods. It uses virtually no materials and it is less time consuming, so it is less costly. Often the paintless dent repair technician can perform the repairs in your driveway without the vehicle spending any time in the shop so you don’t even need to drop it off and find alternative transportation for a few days.

The methods of paintless dent repair are quite simple, which is why it’s less costly. The technician must gain access to the backside of the dent. If there is a dent in the hood, he needs to access the underside of the hood by possibly removing part of the underhood insulation blanket. If there is a dent in a fender, he needs to access the backside through the wheel well. If there is a dent in the door, he needs to roll down the window on the door to gain access to the backside of the dent. From the backside of the dent the technician uses plastic-tipped punches to gently but firmly push on the dent in order to work the metal back into a smooth surface, flush with the surrounding sheet metal.

Once the dent is repaired, the technician re-assembles any parts that he’s removed and the job is complete. Your vehicle is immediately back on the road and looking good as new.

It is mandatory for you to buy an automotive insurance policy when you purchase a new or used vehicle. Anyone can find auto insurance. The hard part is finding the right amount of coverage for an affordable rate.

Your state will require you to carry a certain amount of auto insurance on your vehicle. This is known as the minimum amount you can have. This is not to say this is the best amount of coverage for you as that will have to be based on your own person needs. The government does not have a basic guideline that all automotive insurance companies must abide by.

Due to this, each insurance company sets their own rates as they want to for gaining profit. This is why your insurance rate can vary so much from one company to the next. Currently, it has come to the attention of many that the type of vehicle you drive will dramatically affect the quotes you will receive.

The less expensive a car is, the less your insurance premium will be since this will require them to pay out less if the car has to be replaced. The insurance companies will decide, on an individual basis, what your risk amount is. This will cause your premium to go up or down. If you have a brand new Corvette and you are 18 years old, your premium will be much higher than a 30 year old that drives a Honda.

Insurance companies have given a list of things that you can do to help reduce the amount of your insurance premium. Following these guidelines can help to save you some money when it comes to making sure you have the best coverage for you.

1.Replacing your expensive SUV with a less expensive car can make your payments much lower.

2.Keep a watch on the amount of miles you use within a year. The less miles you use, the less chance they assume you will be in an accident.

3.Whenever possible, ask your parents to add you to their existing policy if you are 25 years of age or younger. This will reduce the amount you will have to pay on a new policy.

4.If you are currently a student, they will offer you a discount for continually having good grades.

5.Having a security alarm, air bags, and anti-lock brake system on your car can dramatically reduce your premium.

6.Change your deductible to a higher amount. This will make the insurance company have less to pay when you file a claim. Keep in mind that this will be the amount you are required to pay before the insurance will kick in.

It is always recommended to speak with your automotive insurance agent to inquire of other discounts that might be available to you. Not all insurance companies will let you know upfront if you qualify for a discount. Asking is the only way you will get it.
